Slurpees and Pancakes and Chicken- Oh My!

It may be the dog days of summer, but there is still so much going on!

All year long 7-Eleven is celebrating its 50th birthday.  On July 11th (7-11!) they are giving away free small Slurpees from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.  They even have a new favor, "Birthday Cake". I am not sure that I will be trying a birthday cake flavored Slurpee this year, but I am sure that I will stop by for my new favorite- Diet Cherry Coke.  Perfect on a steamy summer day!  For more information click here

By the way, if you are a fan of 7-11 coffee, Slurpees or other beverages, be sure to download their 7Rewards app.  You simply have the cashier scan your bar code with every purchase and your 7th cup is free!

My girls always love Chick-Fil-A day.  On July 12th, Chick-fil-A celebrates it's 12th annual "Cow Appreciation Day". Any adult customer who dresses in any type of cow costume, from full dress to a cow accessory will be given a Chick-fil-A entree. Kids who dress up will receive a free Kids Meal.  The offer is available from store opening through 7:00 p.m.  Even if you do not dress up, it is an interesting people watching event! For more information, click here.

Chick-Fil-A also has a new app which allows you to pre-order your food and avoid waiting in line.  My daughters love it! There is also a rewards program which gives you free food after you make a certain amount of purchases.

If you are a pancake fan, IHOP is celebrating its 58th anniversary by selling its short stack of pancakes for 58 cents from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on July 12th.  You can find more information on that event here

I hope that you are enjoying your favorite treat this week!  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Halloween Tablescape

I love polka-dots.  They make me happy. So does Halloween, beautiful fall weather and the fact that my oldest daughter is visiting.  With that in mind, I decided to enjoy a happy little Halloween dinner on the deck. It has been a long time since I posted a table scape and I want to share this simple little happy table.

A couple of weeks ago, I grabbed up the remaining yardage of this polka dot fabric from Walmart, of all places.  I wish I had bought more when it first came out.  It is perfect for a Halloween tablecloth, quilting or a number of other projects I can think of.

This candelabra came from Target. I had a difficult time finding Halloween taper candles, finally stumbling upon them at Michaels (for 50% off!).  Again, I should have shopped in August, there were more options available then, but I really like the orange with black stripes. (Somebody remind me next year!) I made the witch hat last year (you can see that on my Halloween Eve post here.) There was quite a breeze on…

Bee-Lated Again! (And a Free-Bee!)

You may remember that I promised to tell you about the party favors from my daughter's "Bee-lated Birthday". Not only was I late with her birthday party, but I am late with the promised post as well!  With the bee theme that we had for the party, and my new found fascination with making my own bath soap and sugar scrubs, I decided to make little bee-themed soaps as a party favor.

I have shared with you a couple of times how easy it is to make your own "designer" soaps. For these, I got a bee soap mold, some goat's milk soap base and my new favorite Honey Almond soap scent.  I purchased all of these from Micheal's (don't forget your coupon!), but I am intrigued by some molds that I found on Amazon.  Be sure to shop around and find what makes you happy.

They are simple to make- melt one pound of the soap base in the microwave according to package directions (30 seconds, stir: 30 seconds, stir, etc. until completely melted).  Add your favorite scent, …
