Five Fall Faves

While I hate to see summer go, fall is almost here!    The weather is still warm in my section of the country, at the very least through October, so we can still get out and enjoy all of the things that make this area a great place to live.  The tourists have mainly gone home so we can again enjoy our beaches, museums and other attractions and traffic becomes a little less rushed.  It really is a wonderful time of the year.

With fall's imminent arrival I began thinking about the season ahead and my "must haves" to enjoy this beautiful season:

1.     Pumpkin Anything- I may have jumped the gun a little bit, it is a little early in the season, but I had a Dunkin Donuts Pumpkin spiced doughnut over the weekend. With a cup of iced coffee, it was divine. I also love to burn pumpkin candles during the season.  The Pumpkin Cinnamon from Bath and Body Works is a favorite. I have to confess however, the Pumpkin Spice Latte that everyone is so crazy about is a little too intense for me.

My oldest daughter and I are on a quest to find the pumpkin spice latte M&Ms that only Target is carrying this year.  The shelf was empty at our local store today.  I am not sure if it means that they are sold out (people are crazy about pumpkin spice lattes!) or if they are not in yet.  I will report back if I find them and let you know if they are any good.

2.   A good denim jacket- I finally broke down and bought a new jean jacket. For years I have been wearing one that my husband had when he was young (I call it vintage!) but that was more for warmth than fashion. Denim is the perfect weight for cool mornings and evenings.  I thought it was time to get one designed for women and make it more of a fashion statement this year.  Besides, I have a couple of cute dresses that I can wear into late fall/ early winter with a denim jacket, some tights and some boots.

3. Speaking of boots- that's another thing I have on my shopping list this season- a great pair of black boots.  My current pair desperately needs to be replaced.  But nothing beats a cute pair of cowboy boots for the fall season either!

4.  Mellowcreme pumpkins- the ones that you find in the "Autumn Mix" with candy corn. I do not know why, but the pumpkins are my favorite and you can buy them in a bag all by themselves!  Thank goodness they are only in the stores for a little while, I am addicted to them! (Confession time- I opened this bag right after I took this picture. I am not going to talk about how many are already gone!)

5.  Great Fall Magazines- I really do not read magazines (non-professional ones anyway) at any other time of the year, but when the October issues come out (right about now) through the Christmas editions, I buy a ton of magazines and soak up all of the beautiful pictures of food and decor.  This year is no exception and I have already been so inspired. I imagine I will be sharing some of what I have discovered later this season!

I hope that you are enjoying the last days of summer and getting ready for a fabulous fall!

Thanks for stopping by today!

    1. I agree with you Susie! I finally found them at my local Target. I bought a bag, but have yet to try them. It would be so much better to be able to sample the flavors in a small package. The problem is I would probably find more flavors that I like and would end up buying (and eating!) more!

Happy Halloween Tablescape

I love polka-dots.  They make me happy. So does Halloween, beautiful fall weather and the fact that my oldest daughter is visiting.  With that in mind, I decided to enjoy a happy little Halloween dinner on the deck. It has been a long time since I posted a table scape and I want to share this simple little happy table.

A couple of weeks ago, I grabbed up the remaining yardage of this polka dot fabric from Walmart, of all places.  I wish I had bought more when it first came out.  It is perfect for a Halloween tablecloth, quilting or a number of other projects I can think of.

This candelabra came from Target. I had a difficult time finding Halloween taper candles, finally stumbling upon them at Michaels (for 50% off!).  Again, I should have shopped in August, there were more options available then, but I really like the orange with black stripes. (Somebody remind me next year!) I made the witch hat last year (you can see that on my Halloween Eve post here.) There was quite a breeze on…

Bee-Lated Again! (And a Free-Bee!)

You may remember that I promised to tell you about the party favors from my daughter's "Bee-lated Birthday". Not only was I late with her birthday party, but I am late with the promised post as well!  With the bee theme that we had for the party, and my new found fascination with making my own bath soap and sugar scrubs, I decided to make little bee-themed soaps as a party favor.

I have shared with you a couple of times how easy it is to make your own "designer" soaps. For these, I got a bee soap mold, some goat's milk soap base and my new favorite Honey Almond soap scent.  I purchased all of these from Micheal's (don't forget your coupon!), but I am intrigued by some molds that I found on Amazon.  Be sure to shop around and find what makes you happy.

They are simple to make- melt one pound of the soap base in the microwave according to package directions (30 seconds, stir: 30 seconds, stir, etc. until completely melted).  Add your favorite scent, …
