One Day There Will be Weddings Again! (Three of Them!)
In the month between Thanksgiving and Christmas, both of my daughters became engaged. We were thrilled!
A month later, my brother proposed to his girlfriend. More happiness!
As 2020 dawned, it looked as though we would spend the spring and summer planning weddings, engagement parties and bridal showers. We began attending bridal shows, touring venues, trying out caterers and "Pinning" a lot of ideas (A LOT of ideas!).
And then...
Well, I do not need to tell you what happened then.
So while we can't be actively planning and partying now, we can still look ahead. That is what I am doing in the craft room this week.
When I saw this box card on svgcuts, originally for a birthday, I just knew that it would be a super cute wedding cake as well. So in the middle of the quasi-quarantine we are still in, I decided to spend some time getting inspired and thinking about the good times ahead.
I cut off the candle and made the cake out of an opalescent white paper. The "icing" is of course a glitter paper as are the flowers, which also have a rhinestone in the middle. All of the materials are from my stash since I still have not ventured into a craft store. (I will say however, that Michael's has a terrific curbside pickup service that I have used on occasion.)
The sentiment on the back is the "Easton" font in the Cricut Design Space. I just discovered the font and I can imagine using it for a lot of projects. For this cut I used my Cricut Explore Air 2.
The card folds down to fit nicely into an envelope that is also included with the file. When I am not mailing a card (and sometimes when I do) I will add a sticker that I make with my Xyron machine. This one was cut on my Explore using the "Everyday Fonts- Big Day" font.
Since this is the month of June, traditionally "Wedding Month" a lot of blogs are posting challenges so I am sharing this with:
The Sisterhood of Crafters
Bitten by the Bug 2
By the way, in our neck of the woods, June is no longer the most popular month to hold a wedding- it's October!
The Garden Party Box Card set on svgcuts is a great file. There is a birdhouse, a lantern, a chair (you will see that on here soon!) and of course, the cake. All of which have amazing instructions.
I made this card for my mother-in-laws birthday back in May. Again, the materials were all from my stash, cut on my Explore Air 2. I added a tag from Design Space and used a "Lawn Fawn" sentiment stamp.
I enjoyed this time in my craft room dreaming about better days. One day there will be weddings again! Three of Them!
By the way- if you have a recommendation for a good light box, please let me know. Mine is too small and cheaply made.
Thank you for stopping by today!
