Shark Week!

How has it been over a month since I lasted posted?

Here it is mid-August already!  All of those wonderful projects I planned for my summer break didn't get done and it is time to start working on the fall semester, but you better believe that I am going to grab every last bit of summer that I can!

If you know me at all, you know that one of my favorite parts of summer is Shark Week.  (I know, the irony, a former attorney who loves Shark Week!).  This year my quarantine crew had a little backyard celebration to kick off a week of shark documentaries and drama.

My favorite part of the decor was this sign that I made for the pool.  Inspired by a sign from the movie "Jaws" (celebrating its 45th anniversary!), I posted this warning and floated a cute shark float to greet my guests as they entered the yard. I painted over a dollar store sign and created the wording in Design Space after researching what the movie prop looked like.  I cut the letters on vinyl for ease and speed and used the stake from another dollar store sign to plant the sign in a bucket that I found in the Target dollar bin. Quick and easy and a lot of fun!

The centerpiece for my table was this cute little beach house on a dock-like tray complete with a sign warning of sharks in the water outside its door. The sign was designed in Cricut Design Space. You may remember this house in different paper on my Fourth of July tablescape- I just love how many occasions you can celebrate with this cut from SVGcuts !

Of course, no summer celebration can be complete without a cocktail!  There are various recipes for this "Shark Bite" cocktail all over Pinterest, so I won't bore you with the details, but its combination of Coconut Rum and pineapple and lime juice, is quite light and refreshing on a hot summer's evening!

And what is more refreshing than watermelon on a hot August afternoon?

You are never too old for some Rice Krispy Treats!  I found this recipe in Food Network Magazine and it turned out so cute!

I hope that you are enjoying this last month of summer (and Shark Week!)

Just for fun I am linking my Cricut crafts to Bitten by the Bug!  Did you know you can also find me on Instagram, too?

Thanks for stopping by today!
