A Nautical Fourth
A couple of weeks ago I showed you a lighthouse that I had completed for my Memorial Day décor (you can see that post here). I love the lighthouse, cut from a SVGcuts file, and knew that it had to be the centerpiece of my Fourth of July tablescape.
I placed the lighthouse and the keeper's quarters on a tray that I think looks a little like a pier.
It is not the first time I used the "pier" or the house. It was part of my "Shark Week" décor last year . I did have to install a new roof!
Once I got going with the nautical theme, I knew that we had to have a boat.
I found this cute little rowboat, again on SVGcuts.
The place settings consist of plain read plates which I have had for a few years. I do not even remember where they came from. The tableware is from Pier One. I believe that the napkin rings are too. I sure do miss that store! The napkins are actually handkerchiefs, probably from the Target Dollar Spot last year. I love using handkerchiefs for casual tablescapes. They are cute, inexpensive and easy to wash. The glasses are from the Magnolia Home collection at Target.
After I took the first round of pictures, I realized that the boat wasn't moored to the pier.
Never fear! I little "rope" and a couple of sticky dots took care of that!
Should I add a little candy treat to the boat for my guests on the Fourth?
And holds a tea light candle (a battery operated one!)
I added a little flag to the pier. I made the flag (it is actually a sticker on each side of a skewer). But in the interest of total honesty, I made a mistake on the back side.
Did you know that flying the flag upside down is a signal of distress?
No distress here! I am enjoying this beautiful summer weather and I am so looking forward to a wonderful Fourth of July!
I will be sharing this tablescape to one of my favorite blogs: Between Naps on the Porch
I hope that you have a Happy and Safe Fourth of July weekend!
Thanks for stopping by!
Cynthia
