Crafting an Ice Cream Party
Summer is still here (despite what we see on social media!) and nothing says summer like ice cream.
We recently celebrated my daughter's birthday with an ice cream /pool party. We decided on an ice cream truck theme, so I ran with it (or should I say drove...., never mind!). I used a free svg pattern from Designs by Miss Mandee.com. Naturally I had to change it a little bit- her pattern is a bit more fancy than mine.
And why make one when you can make another...
or three...
This one is my favorite.
Pre-pandemic we would regularly visit Disney World and I miss our fun family trips.
I found this little Hallmark Christmas ornament from this year's collection to go with it. Perfect for the occasion.
After I looked at the pictures, I decided that this one would be better with a Mickey ice cream on the top as well.
Pre-pandemic I decorated a lot of cakes with fondant figures and fancy icing décor. Since then, I seemed to have lost that skill set (or maybe lost interest!), but have discovered making cake toppers with my Cricut. This one was customized from a box card cut from Lori Whitlock.
The added benefit to making a special cake topper is that it can be given to the birthday honoree as a keepsake. I use an acrylic cake topper from Amazon as my base. The pick can be cleaned for storage. Just be careful not to push the paper into the cake!
Of course, there has to be a garland. This one was cut from the first Cricut cartridge I purchased (yes, I have been using Cricut that long!). Doodlebugs cartridge has some super cute cuts for a variety of occasions.
Since it was Shark Week during our celebration, this guy showed up in our pool.
Not the best photo, but it is a beach ball with a shark eating an ice cream cone! Perfect!
I hope that you are enjoying your summer with lots of ice cream and all of your favorite treats!
Thanks for stopping by today!
