Hold On Summer! Don't Go!

Wait! What happened?  How is it September already?!?

Summer went by way too fast for me.  Meteorologists declare that September 1st is the first day of fall but I am holding on to the "traditional" start that gives me three more weeks!

As a way of saluting the waning days of the season, I decided to pull out the flamingoes and set up a fun tablescape for dinner. Flamingoes have always been favorites of mine.  I love their bright pink color- they always bring a smile to my face and remind me of summer.

Speaking of smiles- don't you love these happy flamingoes?  These glasses were a gift from my aunt a few years ago. I broke my "No Glass on the Pool Deck" rule to bring these cuties poolside.

These plates are from TJ Maxx.  The gold utensils are from Pier One. I made the napkins and the napkin rings are wooden hoops from the Dollar Store craft section spray painted gold.

I made this tablecloth from fabric I found at Walmart. Since the fabric was thin, I backed it with the same pink as the napkins. I just love the bright colors!

I planned a bright tropical centerpiece, but I waited too late in the season.  It is all sunflowers and mums in the stores around here.  But this arrangement with the bright pink lily as the star was pretty close to the original plan- just not as bright as intended.  Using a carved out pineapple for the vase, I felt like the arrangement was a little closer to the tropics than if I used a traditional vase. (I didn't forget to put a glass in the pineapple. I learned my lesson from the Watermelon Day Tablescape!)

The flowers may not have been tropical, but they are beautiful!

I hope that you are enjoying these last days of summer and have a great Labor Day weekend! I will be linking to Tablescape Thursday over at Between Naps on the Porch. There are always such great ideas for beautiful tables there!

Thanks for stopping by today!
