The Next FCCB Challenge!
My goodness! How has it been almost a month since I posted! As has happened all too often during the last few months, it seems that life has gotten in the way. I am looking ahead to spring (and specifically Spring Break!) with some time to gather my thoughts and express my creativity in some media or another.
Today I am posting my latest entry in the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge blog's challenge: Sympathy. My goal was to create a card that I do not often see in the store- a thoughtful, compassionate expression of sympathy that can be used for a professional colleague or business associate, even a man.
Have you ever tried to purchase a sympathy card for a man? It is impossible to find a card that does not have all sorts of flowers and flourishes and just shares a simple expression of comfort and sympathy suitable for a more masculine personality. That's where my creativity struggle comes in- sympathy, masculine, muted colors and no ribbons, glitter or rhinestones!
Going through the "Calligraphy Collection" images that are free this week, I found two sentiments that would fit the bill, both already welded in Design Space.
Yes, they are plain, but suitable for a man or even for a professional situation where you may want to express sympathy, but you do not know the person particularly well. Inside of both cards is the sentiment "So Sorry for Your Loss. Comforting Thoughts are with you". I used my Cricut to write in the "Bradley Hand" font.
My only issue with these cards is gluing the sentiment on the front. Adhesion has always been an issue for me and this was difficult to glue sufficiently to stick the small sentiment to the card, but not make a mess. If you have a suggestion for a great glue, please post in the comments. I need help!
But there are other creative crafters out there that don't have adhesion issues- you should go check them out at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog! Or post your own entry- you may win an Amazon gift card!
If it isn't a card, you will get two entries into the drawing!
