Holding on to the Summer as Long as I Can!

Now I know that summer does not officially end for another month or so now, but for me, summer is for all intents and purposes over when the school year begins. And that time is almost here.  School is much different this year for me as it is for most teachers. Although the commute to my "classroom" is all of twenty feet this semester and I will not be physically on campus with my students, I start to feel "fallish" as soon as the term begins.

In the meantime, I am holding on to these last days as hard as I can!

But when I saw a challenge by the Bitten by the Bug 2 blog for "Watermelon", I realized that I had been summering so hard that I forgot to blog about my end-of-the summer kitchen "decor".

I love to decorate with a tiered tray!  They can really pack a decorating punch in a small space.

I just love this cute Watermelon Snack Bowl that I placed on the bottom tier.  It was a free cut from Dreaming Tree SVGs.  Instead of snacks, I decided that we needed a bowl of sunflowers.  They are my go-to end-of-summer decor and I thought they just went perfectly with the watermelon! The sunflowers are a cut from Cricut Design Space. (Can you tell I need a bigger light box?)

On the top tier I placed this "Life is Sweet" sign on the top tier as a gentle reminder in these tough times.  I took a small plaque from Michael's and painted it pink.  I cut the message, border and watermelon in vinyl.  I wasn't sure that my stenciling skills were up to the tiny swirls in the font!  The watermelon is from the old "Doodlecharms" cart, I believe.

I added some primitive watermelon "slices" that I made on my trusty old sewing machine and one of my trusty flamingos that gets added to just about every bit of summer decor (and other holidays, too, I'll admit!) A cute little centerpiece to remember to celebrate those sweet summer days that are still ahead!

I will be linking up to the Bitten by the Bug 2 challenge this week.  Stop by and see what these amazing crafters have made!

I hope that you are enjoying your last days of summer!  Thanks for stopping by!
