It's Strawberry Season!

I was so excited to find out that our local Strawberry Patch opened this week!  This makes makes me so happy!  I love fresh strawberries and of course they taste so much better when you get them right where they are grown.  (And it means that Spring is finally here!)

The theme to this week's Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog is Mother's Day.  Now I know that you are going to look back at the paragraph that you just read and say what does this have to do with Mother's Day?  Well, as a mother, I have enjoyed strawberry picking with my kids for years.  There are special memories of time spent with my kids picking strawberries and then eating the sweet treats we just picked ourselves. My Mom and I will make a quick trip down to the farm stand and buy a bucket full of pre-picked strawberries and a jar of their home-made jam. Yum!  More treats to enjoy and more special memories. So, to me, there is a connection to strawberries and Mother's Day!

I found this cute little strawberry basket and the strawberries on Design Space. I love the red gingham ribbon- gingham just says "Spring!" to me in any color.

When I assembled the strawberries, I used raffia as the "stem".  I wouldn't advise doing that, but I didn't have any twine at the time.  It is difficult to get through the little holes.   I wrote the label on the front of the basket in Design Space, adding the heart stamp from "Lawn Fawn".   The "Happy Mother's Day" tag in the back of the basket is made with an Susan Branch stamp I found years ago. The "straw" in the bottom is gift bag filler.

After I finished the project I looked at it and it seemed a bit much, so I made a second one and pared it back a little.  It reminds me a little more of the baskets we use when we pick strawberries.  (Okay, that's not true, we skip the baskets and go straight to the bucket, but other people use the baskets!)

I can't wait to spend some Mother-Daughter time at the Strawberry Patch soon!

Make a project about Mother's Day.

This Weeks Sponsor

Create a project inspired by Mother's Day

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. If you use a Cricut Explore machine, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images.

If it isn't a card, you will get two entries into the drawing!

I have a fantabulous project that I created with one of our sponsor's cuts that I am going to share with you in a post later this week.   I hope you will come back to check it out!

In the meantime, post a special Mother's Day project of your own over at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog or stop by to see what the other talented crafters have posted.

Thanks for stopping by today!
