A Hauntingly Fun House

I am really hooked on Haunted Houses this year.  I am fascinated by them.  Not the gross, gory ones with goblins reaching out to grab you at every turn, but the more family friendly, PG rated version.  Unfortunately we don't have any of the fun ones here, but I can make my own! 

So this year I finally took the time (a lot of time!) to build the Haunted House in the Cricut Cartridge, Happy Hauntings.  I have had the cartridge for a few years, but never had the opportunity to cut it out and build it.  This year, with a brief lull in my work projects (until the midterm projects are due next week!) and some rainy weather I decided that this would be the year! 

I am not going to lie.  It took a loooooong time to cut out and a looooooong time to put together.  I was a little intimidated at first, but even though the directions don't look very helpful, they in fact are.  It just takes a little bit of patience (not my strong suit!) Now that it is done, I can say it was pretty fun to put together! 

I set the height to 7 inches when I cut it.  That allowed all of the pieces to be cut on 12"x12" paper.  I think that it took about ten sheets of black and three sets of gray (it was my decision to cut the roof gray, it is black in the instructions.  It also took one sheet of yellow for the windows.  

I am still working with it and adding things, but the sun finally came out today and I "need" to go get some mums.  

Eventually there may be a witch at the front door or something spooky peeking out of a window, who knows where the inspiration may lead? 

This picture is actually the side.  I moved the pumpkins and ghost to this end and turned the house for this photo.  I think if I make it again I will have the tower facing this direction.  I think I will also make the windows out of a lighter paper so that I can put a light inside. 

I placed the house on black foam board from the Dollar Store and scored it so it would fold up for the back drop.  I did not get a good photo of the fence, but it surrounds the "yard" and covers the white edges of the foam board.  

All of the images are from the Happy Hauntings cartridge, except for the moon which is just a circle from Design Space.
