Celebrating Fall Anyway!

So I was sitting out on my deck enjoying the sunshine and I realized that it is fall.  Now, I know that and I am excited about it.  But if you sat in my backyard right now, you would think it was August.  Flowers are blooming, birds are singing, crickets are chirping and it is quite warm.  Every leaf on every tree is still just as green as it was two months ago.  Every. Leaf. is. Still. Green.  It is going to be in the 80s every day for the next week.  I'm not complaining, I love warm weather and there are going to be some days next winter when I will look back fondly at these temperatures and the sunshine. But I wouldn't mind a little bit of fall foliage, some indication that Mother Nature knows that it is fall. So without a lot of time, but with great purpose, I went looking for some vestiges of autumn.  And I found them.

In a pumpkin patch!

I love a local pick-your-own pumpkin patch.

We actually picked our own right off of the vine.

They had different types of gourds and all sorts of pumpkins.

Orange pumpkins are great, but I love the different colors!

There were even some still "in production"!

I don't think these will mature soon enough to be Jack o'Lanterns!

There is even a corn maze here.  I haven't tried it yet.  Not sure if I'm brave enough!  They do have a "lifeguard" who sits in a big chair to make sure that no one gets lost!

It's probably a good thing that my husband was with me because I would have "adopted" a lot more of these beautiful pumpkins and gourds.  But I am not promising that I will not be going back again soon!

Now, there's nothing wrong with buying your pumpkin at a grocery store or nursery, but if you are needing a little shot of fall like I did, head down to your local farm and find yourself in a field of it!

Thanks for stopping by today!
