Gardenias and Glitter is Back!
It has been FOREVER since I my last post! I am sorry, there has just been a lot going on. I am just now learning that I must make things I enjoy a priority and that includes this blog! While I am realistic enough to know that I cannot keep up the two posts per week that I started out with (where did I find the time?!!),I hope to share at least one a week. We'll talk about crafting, baking, tablescapes or whatever is interesting to me at that time.
Of course, you can tell by the name of my blog that Gardenias are my favorite flower. So for my first week back I am sharing a floral project that I put together to commemorate my return, as well as the Four Year Anniversary of my first post! I bought the cut (or the pattern) over a year ago and just have not found the time to complete it. Now, in my new-found quest for time for creativity I decided to make the bouquet and share it with you as part of my celebration.
The cut is from "Dreaming Tree". Click here to see the original or purchase the cut. (No, I do not have a monetary interest in the company- I just love the bouquet!) Of course, I made the flowers in white and a couple of shades of green, but I changed the vase to silver with, of course, glitter! The stems are something called "stem wire" from the floral department of the craft store wrapped in floral tape. It was actually so simple to put together that I am embarrassed that it took me so long to do so!
Inspired by the beautiful Gardenias now in season, and their amazing scent, I went looking for a cocktail to enjoy on the deck during these warm pre-summer evenings. Believe it or not, there are Gardenia cocktail recipes out there, but they all have some sort of cream in them- that sounded horrible and not at all suitable for the season!
So then I started thinking about ways to enjoy that beautiful scent. I do love Gardenia scented candles, but I haven't attempted to make candles in years (perhaps a future project/blog post!?!) Thinking about it a little more I went back to an oldie, but a goodie- next time I'll be adapting my old Sugar Scrub recipe to a light summer Gardenia scented version. Be sure to come back next Wednesday and take a look- you might find a new favorite too!
Meanwhile, you may see some changes to the look of the blog as we move forward- it is a lot of fun to play around with different styles and colors!
Thanks for stopping by today!
